On Sunday, December 25, a fire broke out in a historic building on Zhilyanska Street in Kyiv, which was destroyed by a Russian drone attack.

According to the Emergency services, the fire broke out on the basement floor of the building on Sunday morning. It was extinguished within an hour. There are no victims or injured. The cause of the fire is being established.

It will be recalled that on October 17, an Iranian drone hit the historical house of the merchant Yosyp Lev on Zhilyanska Street. It is not registered as a monument, but according to local residents, it has a certain architectural and historical value. Kyiv residents collected 6 signatures in a few days by petition regarding the restoration of a damaged historic building. However, the commission of the Kyiv City Council on issues of architecture, urban planning and land relations did not support the petition, rejecting her. The mayor of the city, Vitalii Klitschko, also stated that the historical building cannot be restored, so it will be dismantled.
