About this reports informed local historian Anton Korob.
The lantern was restored by Pavlo Tretyakov, a well-known collector, researcher and activist for the preservation of Kyiv's cultural heritage.
The lantern is located in the arch of the profitable building of Baxant, built in 1909–1912. The house was designed by the architect Yosyp Zektser in the Ornamental Art Nouveau style.
"An interesting detail that attracted Pavel's attention was an inexplicable box hanging on modern tie-bars and a chain-link net, which served as a transom in the doorway - closing the space of the passage tunnel "arch" above the gate. As it turned out, this element is authentic," says Anton.
According to the results of the research conducted by Pavel, it was established that this is currently the only one among all the preserved buildings of that time in Kyiv with an internal arch over-gate lantern-signpost of the house.
In the middle of the lantern box, the restorer found the remains of the original inscription on the frosted glass with the then name of the street and the number of the house.
