About this informed Oleksandr Vozny, head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the KMDA.
"Our initiative #CityofLivingWalls is gaining momentum! 50 seedlings of Vichy grapes were handed over to the Solomyanka district state administration, the Department of Education and the managing company of the Solomyanka district... So soon "living" walls will begin to appear on the buildings of schools and residential buildings in Solomyanka," the message reads.

Vozny also reported that the well-known TV presenter Dmytro Komarov, who also received a grape sprout and planted it, joined the action.
The official once again reminded why vertical gardening is not only beautiful, but also useful:
- Contributes to air purification. On the streets with "living" walls, the content of nitrogen dioxide is 40% lower, and suspended particles (dust) are 60% lower.
- It has a cooling effect both outside and inside the room. In summer, the temperature inside a room with a green wall is lower on average by 5 degrees compared to a similar room without such a wall.
- Helps to absorb rainwater and discharge sewage.
- Reduces noise.
Vynohrad Vichi, the head of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the KMDA, described it as a fast-growing plant (the annual growth of shoots is 1-3 meters), does not destroy walls (because it clings to the surface with tendrils that stick to it), is undemanding in care, has a low cost (the average price of a sprout is UAH 80).
