Normally the Stirling Prize is awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to the country's best new building, but this year it went to the entire line network and its 10 new stations. reported the BBC.

The judges praised its "sophisticated set of architectural components", futuristic design and spacious tunnels, calling it an innovative model in transport infrastructure.

"Elizabeth" has the longest platforms, the largest tunnels and the fastest trains in the entire London Underground. This metro line carries the most passengers compared to other railway lines in the country - about 700 daily.

RIBA President and Jury Chair Muivah Oki said it was "architecture for the digital age" that "uses cutting-edge technology to create distinctive spatial characteristics and sets a bold new standard for civil infrastructure".
