Development demonstrated the Dutch company Lightyear, which specializes in the manufacture of electric cars of this type. In 2019, they released a sub-series prototype of the Lightyear One liftback, and now they showed its improved serial version.
In order to reduce the impact on the environment, the company did not limit itself to the installation of solar panels. Lightyear 0 was also designed with environmental considerations in mind.
The salon is made of leather of plant origin, fabric from recycled plastic bottles and wooden decor elements made from rattan palm. Also, the external panels of the electric car were created from recycled materials, in particular carbon fiber.
According to the developers, depending on the climate, the Lightyear 0 can “drive between 6 and 000 kilometers of free, easy and clean mileage every year”, and the solar panels installed on the roof and hood with a total area of 11 m² provide an additional 000 kilometers of mileage per day.
The world first saw the development on June 9, 2022 at an online presentation.
“This is important, because our first Lightyear 0 series should pave the way for an ambitious mission that extends to all corners of the earth. Clean mobility for everyone, everywhere," said Lightyear co-founder Lex Hefslot.
