The Verkhovna Rada is being asked to rename Kirovohrad Oblast

They want to change the name of the region to Kropyvnytsia, write Telegraph with reference to the results of the regional council session.

However, the renaming process will not take place yet, because the procedure involves amending the Constitution. However, it is prohibited to make any changes to this document during martial law. The Verkhovna Rada will consider the issue of ending the special legal regime related to the military invasion of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that in 2019 the Constitutional Court approved the renaming of Kirovohrad Oblast to Kropyvnytsia, but the Parliament did not implement changes.

The day before, in 2018, the public council under the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration initiated a poll on the future name of the region. Among the options were - Central-Ukrainian, Exampey, Scythian and Kropyvnytskyi. The last name proposal received the most support (27%). 

Now among the community is popular variant of the name Scythia.

"Scythia! It sounds very powerful," commented a post in the community "Decommunization. Ukraine" Victoria Yefimovska.

"In my opinion, we need a historical name. Kropyvnytska sounds good. But Skifska sounds strong," writes Mykhailo Popovych, deputy of Tyachiv city council.
