Initiative provides creation of 6,2-kilometer cycle paths between cities. They are proposed to be equipped with waiting bicycle racks at intersections, parking lots, self-service stations and drinking water stations.
According to Stanislav Klymenko, designer of the street space and co-author of the project, "the project is absolutely realistic and can be implemented if desired." All that is needed for this is the "interest of the three cities and Ukravtodor".
"Pre-war indicators of bicycle traffic in the direction of Irpen and Buchi were the highest in the entire Kyiv agglomeration. During active military operations, the bicycle became almost the only means of transport for evacuating the population from the city. And the embankment along the Irpin River has been a tourist and recreational magnet for cyclists for several years," says Stanislav Klymenko.
It is worth noting that in 2020, a 5,2 km long bicycle lane was laid between Kyiv and Irpen along the Novoirpin track. It connected the Romanivka massif in Irpin and the embankment of the Irpin river, where there was already a bicycle path, with Novobilychy in Kyiv.
