Auction results recently published to auction house websites.
Previously Ivan Marchuk reported that the estimated cost of the painting would be between 40 and 60 thousand euros. As a result, the painting was sold for significantly more than the previous estimate.
“Sotheby's, lot #19. Generous Planet. Today my still life, created in Manhattan (New York) during my emigration to the USA, will find its new home. Each work has its own destiny…”, the artist wrote on the eve of the auction.

The still life “Generous Planet” was created in 1994 during the American period of the artist’s life. The work vividly demonstrates the features of Marchuk’s work in the 1990s, a time of active experiments with color, multi-layered texture, and complex symbolic images, which became a recognizable feature of his author’s style.
Today, Ivan Marchuk is considered the most expensive contemporary artist in Ukraine. His works regularly appear at leading international and Ukrainian auctions. The artist's absolute record was set in 2024 at the Goldens auction, where the landscape "The Moon Has Set Over the Dnieper" (1980) was sold for $300. This result became the highest public auction sale in the history of contemporary Ukrainian art.
