The author of the book, Hilary Robertson, began her career as a journalist, at first she wrote about fashion and design, but realized that she was more interested in exploring interiors. Namely, how to make them harmonious and strong, so together with Canvas Home and Bloomist she created decor elements.
The subject of the book "Monochrome house» became black and white interiors: she seeks to debunk the myth that it is boring and leaves no room for fantasy. Hilary Robertson describes the small details that make monochrome interiors more attractive and how just two colors can fit not only minimalist and modern interiors, but also classic or eclectic ones.
In the first chapter of The Monochrome Home, Hilary Robertson analyzes five different monochrome palettes and demonstrates moodboards that will create different effects in the design: white and black, shades of gray, shades of light, dark colors and all these combinations. Next, the author presents different approaches to creating a design: with an emphasis on dark or light, depending on the type of rooms and your preferences.
Hilary Robertson visits inspiring homes of artists, architects and designers around the world: London, Paris, Copenhagen, Sweden, New York. Readers will see how monochrome interiors are treated in different countries and what means of decoration are used to make such spaces as unique and unique as possible.
