The NGO "Museum of Contemporary Art" and UNESCO have chosen 14 winners of the (re)connection UA open competition, who will be provided with financial support in the amount of 140 dollars.
Funding is provided by the UNESCO Heritage Emergency Fund and the UNESCO-Aschberg Program for Artists and Cultural Specialists.
Winners' projects
- "Seeds of Polina Raiko". Community building around the legacy of Polina Raiko and its integration into modern art practices, NGO "Centre of Cultural Development "Totem"" (Kherson / Ternopil).
- GAIA-24. Opera del Mondo. A geohistorical opera about the humanitarian and environmental crisis caused by the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, PORTO FRANKO art foundation (Ivano-Frankivsk / Kyiv).
- "Prelude". Short film dealing with the psychological traumatization of civilians during the war, Kinotron group (Kyiv).
- "War Tattoo". Support program for young photographers from the southern regions of Ukraine and exhibition project, Mykolaiv School of Photography MYPH (Mykolaiv).
- "Erasing and remembering". Media project, artistic and research online platform SONIAKH in partnership with the NGO "Cultural Geography" (Kyiv).
- "Content". Printed catalog of art projects of the Museum of Modern Art (Kherson) named after S. Volyazlovskyi (MSMH) to the 20th anniversary of the institution, NGO "Museum Affairs" (Kherson).
- 5 Minutes for Ukrainian Art. A series of publications in online media Artslooker.com, NGO "Mystetska Lanka" (Kyiv).
- "Body of danger". A performative dance performance exploring the experience of being in a state of constant threat, independent theater "Nafta" in partnership with the NGO "State and I" (Kharkiv).
- "European heritage of Donbass". Multimedia exhibition project, LLC "435 FILMS" (Kyiv).
- "Sorry No Rooms". Art residence, NGO "Residence of contemporary art "Sorry, no rooms"" (Uzhhorod).
- "Lot's Women". Exhibition project of the Memory Lab artistic association in Kharkiv, in partnership with NGO Detail (Ivano-Frankivsk / Kharkiv).
- "Tenth year in progress". A collection of personal stories of childhood and adulthood of the youth of Luhansk region and Donetsk region from "Neotodresh Gallery", NGO "Youth Community of Lysychansk" (Lysychansk / Lviv).
- "Love is worth everything". Almanac of the independent Ukrainian short meter, created during the full-scale invasion, GO "86" (Slavutych / Kyiv).
- "We listen to all the sounds. We are wary, almost sniffing them like dogs". Research of the audio-visual exhibition project, NGO "Institution of Unstable Thoughts" (Kyiv).
The projects will be implemented until April 2024 in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Uzhhorod, Ternopil, etc.
It should be noted that UNESCO supports Ukrainian cultural projects not for the first time. Within the framework of the first season of the (re)connection UA program in 2022, seven Ukrainian art institutions were financially supported in the implementation of their cultural projects.
