According to studies by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Spanish summer in major cities has increased from 90 days to 145 days over the past half century.

About this reports the edition of The Mayor.

A scientific study showed that in the period from 1971 to 2022, a temperature increase of 3,54 degrees was recorded. At the same time, this trend is more intense in urban regions, in particular in Palma, Barcelona, Murcia, Ciudad Real, Zaragoza and Madrid.

The increase in temperature also extends to the night time. The phenomenon, when the temperature does not drop below 20 degrees at night and people do not feel relief from the scorching sun, is called a tropical night. The average number of tropical nights has also increased over the past half century from 45 to 63.
