It would seem that the skyscraper 60 Wall Street in the financial district of New York does not need improvement. The 47-story postmodern office building, designed by Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates, belongs to Class A and meets the LEED Gold sustainability standard. But no! In mid-May, Paramount Group (a global real estate investment trust) announced that it is investing in the global reconstruction of an already successful and popular facility. The project, developed by the studio Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), involves the transformation of the facade, new glazing of the tower, the addition of a skylight for natural lighting of the atrium and the installation of a green wall, which will be the largest in North America.
"The goal of renovating 60 Wall Street, especially during COVID, is to create an environment that brings a sense of well-being to this vibrant urban community," said Hugh Trumbull, AIA, Principal Designer at KPF.
