About this reported the edition of Focus with reference to the comments of the acting director of KP "Zhytny Rynok" Yevgeny Shevchenko. He promises that the purpose of the building will not change, while the market will be transformed into a modern public space.
Food courts, a brewery, and a children's corner are planned to be opened on the second floor. And on the first one, they will traditionally sell meat products, vegetables, flowers, seeds, etc.
"In a difficult time for our country, we are grateful to the investor, Mr. Florian Bolen, for believing in our victory. For investments in our city of Kyiv, in Podil. The German businessman has an impeccable reputation and extensive experience in similar projects in various European countries. In particular, he has several successful projects in London, his team has a unique expertise in the transformation of old buildings into modern objects," says Shevchenko.
On the eve of the KMDA and KP "Zhytniy Rynok" organized an open electronic auction for the lease of part of the market building's space for the purpose of locating public catering establishments there and providing services to the population. The winner of the bidding was "TANGERIN" LLC, EDRPOU: 42577394. The monthly rent will be UAH 1, including VAT, UAH 202. According to the contract, the tenant is obliged to carry out major repairs (reconstruction) of the covered market building (in particular, the roof, engineering networks, communication, non-residential premises, in accordance with the decision of the permanent commission of the KMDA on property issues) at its own expense.
"The Rye Market is an example of ultra-modernism in architecture. And its uniqueness lies precisely in the fact that it really is a market that still works. But it is important to understand that the building is about forty-two years old. What does it mean? All engineering networks are already in a very dilapidated state, and some communications are already in an emergency state or do not work at all. For example, heating and smoke exhaust systems...
It is necessary to urgently carry out measures to preserve the distinctive style of ultra-modernism and the target market. We are talking about large funds that need to be taken either from Kyiv residents, from the KMDA budget, or at the expense of a private investor. We chose the second option," explains V. at. director of the institution.
The building of the Rye market is in a terrible condition, notes Shevchenko. For example, a facade covered with graffiti, an old roof and deformation seams that needed repair work. The constant change of managers also played a significant role - a new director was appointed almost every year.
The Rye Market was built in 1980 according to the project of architects O. Monina, V. Shtolko and designer B. Bernarskyi. The facade of the building is decorated with a metal panel "From the Varangians to the Greeks" by the Ukrainian monumental artist Anatoly Domnych.
