/ Ukraine /

The international FATA MORGANA conference will be held in Vinnytsia on April 7-9, which will precede an open architectural competition for the adaptation of the Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Cinema as the first UMCA center.

The event will bring together architects, urban planners, museum professionals and heritage researchers to develop a shared vision and key questions for the transformation of a building before design begins. The conference will provide a platform for discussion on the role of the museum as an institution, working with historical heritage and the importance of architecture in creating cultural spaces.

The architectural competition will be held in collaboration with UNESCO and will have an international jury. Its members include Norwegian architect Magnus Wåge, co-founder of Mestres Wåge Arquitectes, who will also join the conference and share his experience in revitalizing industrial architecture for cultural institutions.

Based on the results of the competition, five prizes are provided, including the main one - 350 thousand hryvnias.

The event is organized by Vinnytsia City Council, public organizations "Museum of Contemporary Art" (MOCA NGO), "Play" and Institution(ing)s in cooperation with Kharkiv School of Architecture. Partners are UNESCO Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
