The project of transformation of one of the oldest streets of Dnipro from automobile to pedestrian. Before that, it was a transit place crowded with cars and chaotic parking lots. Descending from the top of the central hill, it was once thought of as one of the first town-planning axes of the city, which connected iconic objects of different eras of its development — the Transfiguration Cathedral, square named after T. G. Shevchenko and the entrance to the main local park of the same name. Architects VK Architects they returned to it the established vector, turned it into a modern street pedestrian space.
As an image idea, the authors of the project chose the waves of the Dnieper, as a symbol with which the city itself is associated. These "waves", falling on the relief of the hill, form seven thematic terraces. A place for meetings, a garden terrace, a platform for art presentations, a children's active recreation area, an area for intellectual games with chess tables, a so-called "solarium" with wooden deck chairs, a communication area - all these spaces are connected by side pedestrian passages, and the central " trail", successively passing through all the terraced areas. In addition, about a hundred twenty-year-old oaks and 6 shrubs have been planted here. VK Architects saw their overarching task as preventing social and age distancing, primarily due to an open barrier-free structure and the presence of street furniture: all groups of citizens of any age are constantly communicating and interacting here.

The Enzym company is the most famous producer of baking yeast in the country. The main office and the plant itself are located in a picturesque wooded area on the outskirts of Lviv. Initially, the project involved only the renovation of the entrance group, but later the architects Replus bureau proposed a plan for capital repair of the factory, designed for 10-20 years.
Part of the adjacent territory, including parking and public transport stops, has already been reconstructed. The entrance group and part of the building are highlighted in a special green - the new corporate color of the company, as well as a shade of patinated copper, which has found its continuation in the interiors as well. And between the existing renovated administrative buildings, a new office part built from scratch was incorporated. "Emotionally, we wanted the design to reflect the pragmatism and precision of Danish and German factories," sums up Replus bureau architect Dmitry Sorokevich. The spaces inside are bright and minimalistic. Glass blocks and porthole windows, exposed pipelines and electrical wiring, bent frames and bare concrete walls — all this creates the atmosphere of production and laboratory premises. The upper floor of the building is occupied by a two-level conference hall with authentic vaults and metal balconies made of load-bearing structures that are more than 150 years old.
The EU Mies Award 2022 shortlist of 40 works will be published in January 2022, the winners will be announced in April, and the award ceremony will take place next May in Barcelona.
