The implementation of a loan project to continue the construction of the metro in Kharkiv is ongoing. The next stage — a new tender — is scheduled for February 2, 2026, and the signing of the contract is expected in June 2026.

About this write local publication "Dumka" with reference to the draft Program for Social and Economic Development of the Kharkiv Region for 2026.

The project involves the extension of the third line of the Kharkiv Metro. Its total cost is 320 million euros. Financing is provided by loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank - 160 million euros from each institution.

Construction encompasses several key components:

  • laying a section of the third metro line from the Metrobudivnyky station to the Odeska station, 3,47 km long, with two new stations - Derzhavinska and Odeska;

  • construction of the Alekseyevskoye electric depot for 100 cars to service the line;

  • purchase of new rolling stock;

  • providing procurement advice, project implementation support, and engineering supervision.

To date, the Kharkiv City Council has already implemented the resettlement plan stipulated in the loan agreements, using its own funds in the amount of 5,3 million euros. The construction site has also been prepared: the city hall has purchased 86 land plots and real estate objects located in the construction zone.

It is separately noted that at the request of the banks, the electrical depot is planned to be moved underground. In this regard, in 2024, the preparation of an updated feasibility study was started, which is being carried out by the consulting engineer Egis International. New geological and geodetic studies were conducted, and the initial feasibility report was submitted to the banks on June 10, 2025.
