A digital double will be created to explore Barcelona

An online platform for analyzing the accessibility of public facilities is being tested in Barcelona. For this, a digital model of the city was created.

About this reports the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre.

In Barcelona, they plan to implement the concept of a "15-minute city", in which all city services and public institutions will be located within walking distance of each other.

For convenient urban planning, a digital twin of the city was created, in which simulations of various urban scenarios can be carried out in real time.

This allows you to check which neighborhoods, for example, will be within a ten-minute walk from the stations of the two new metro lines even before the design. Or it will help to harmoniously place electric charging points, bicycle parking or green spaces.

In the future, the Barcelona City Council plans to develop a more complex and reliable digital twin project in order to accurately approach the issues of improving the lives of citizens.
