Initially, the Middlebury Run Park bridge was moved so that it would not interfere with the restoration of wetlands. The crossing was left for some time in another part of the park for storage. There the thief found the structure, said in the Akron Beacon Journal. He took away the metal frame and the treated wooden boards.

The municipality estimates the cost of the bridge at 30-40 thousand dollars. It was planned to be part of a parking space belonging to a shelter for women who have suffered domestic violence.
