On October 10, Russian rockets damaged the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in the village of Berezdivtsi near Novy Rozdol, which is a monument of national importance.
The blast wave from the rockets that fell just behind the fence of the building broke the windows. Plaster also flew off the walls, says the Lviv Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine.
Fortunately, when the shelling took place, there was no one in the church, where restoration work was being carried out. However, residential buildings located nearby were also destroyed.
"The roofs were torn off from some houses, the windows of many were broken, the walls were cut with fragments. Local residents immediately got to work and began to eliminate the consequences of the destruction, but unfortunately, it will not be possible to fix everything on their own," the Lviv Archdiocese of the RCC notes.
By the way, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built in the XNUMXth century in the Baroque style according to the project of the architect Bernard Meretin.
