Barrier-free, new pavilions and more greenery: Lviv will update the bus stop near the Medical University

/ Urbanism /

In Lviv, a concept for the ongoing renovation of a public transport stop on Lychakivska Street near the Medical University was presented. The project was developed by the Lychakivska District Administration together with the team of the LKP "Institute of Spatial Development" with an emphasis on creating a modern, comfortable and fully accessible public space.

Update concept introduced Andriy Chayko, the project's chief engineer. According to him, the main goal is to create a safe and convenient environment for all users, regardless of their level of mobility.

The project is being implemented as part of the national initiative "Movement without Barriers". One of the key tasks will be to ensure barrier-free access to all establishments and pharmacies located along the site. It is assumed that every visitor will be able to get to the necessary institutions without any obstacles and safely.

In addition to increasing accessibility, the project includes a number of changes to improve passenger comfort. An additional pavilion will be installed at the stop, which will increase the covered area and provide better protection from the sun and precipitation. The area will also be greened: new trees and perennial plants resistant to urban conditions will be planted.

Another element of the renovation will be the dismantling of temporary structures (MAFs), which will free up space for pedestrians. The landing platform and sidewalk are also planned to be repaired, and an inefficient mini-pocket of road, which did not fulfill its function and complicated traffic, will be eliminated.

The city authorities emphasize that the repairs will be carried out in stages. This will allow for safe access to pharmacies, medical facilities, and other institutions operating in this area throughout the entire period of the work.

We previously wrote that the Lviv City Council for the first time in Ukraine, will challenge the DIAM construction permit in court.
