The endless trail from MVRDV

Every autumn, the small medieval town of Breda, known for its monumental painting by Diego Velázquez, turns into the photo capital of the Netherlands - the BredaPhoto festival takes place here. The theme of this year's festival, which opened on September 5 and will last until October 21, is 'To Infinity and Beyond'. The MVRDV pavilion, which is called the "Trail of Infinity", allows visitors not only to admire the photo works, but also to discover new views of the historic city center.

The 500-meter-long "Infinity Trail" rises to a six-meter height - to the top floor of the city's Chassé theater.

The unique building with a characteristic wave-shaped roof, which is in a symbiotic relationship with the barracks of the 1995th century, was built in XNUMX according to the project of the local architect Herman Herzberger (Architectural Bureau AHH). Architects MVRDV beat Hertzberger's concept, logically continued the lines of external stair marches.

The plank flooring is supported by a system of scaffolding, which echoes the unique Stairs to Kriterion project – a temporary installation that MVRDV created in 2016, building a staircase leading to the roof of the Groot Handelsgebouw, an office building in the center of Rotterdam.

The installation The Infinity Path on the Chassé Promenade will decorate the square in front of the theater until the end of the photo festival.
