This is one of the most important works on color science by professor and artist Johannes Itten, who is the author of the color wheel and the developer of logical color combinations that designers and artists still use today.
Johannes Itten taught at the innovative school Bauhaus design school in the 1920s. The aim of the institution was to become a key place of artistic education, to use modern ideas, to combine the theory of classical academies and the practice of applied arts and to provide training for gifted students.
As a professor, Itten respected individuality and believed that copying the works of famous masters would not produce the desired results. Therefore, he sought to teach students basic knowledge that they could freely use and adapt for their own projects.
