AIMM Receives Two Prestigious International Awards in Architecture and Design

The Ukrainian architectural bureau AIMM was recognized at two prestigious European competitions at once - the Mies van der Rohe Awards 2025 and the Red Dot Award 2025.

The HORIZONS & ZAG Gallery business center in Lviv has been nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Awards 2025 — the highest honor for contemporary architecture in Europe, often called the "architectural Oscar."

The reconstruction of the former institute building into ZAG Gallery has become an example of a creative approach to preserving architectural heritage. The project is distinguished by a combination of a glass shell and decorative elements in the form of “books”, which create an orderly, rhythmic composition. The use of aluminum as the main material of the facade gave the building a visual lightness and technologicality, emphasizing the modern character of the space.

Lakeside11 project in Bucharest wins Red Dot Award 2025 in Urban Design category

The AIMM team won another recognition together with international partners - the Lakeside11 project in Bucharest became the winner of the Red Dot Award 2025 in the Urban Design category. The project was worked on by AIMM architects, RRG Real Estate Group, landscape designer Mihai Culescu and the client.

The Red Dot Award annually recognizes the best examples of design from around the world — from architectural and urban projects to branding and product design.

“Recognition of Ukrainian architects and projects at the international level is of particular importance today. This is not only a way to keep Ukraine in the global context, but also an opportunity to talk about our strength, culture, and modernity in the language of architecture — a language that is understood without translation. The nomination of our ZAG Gallery project for the Mies van der Rohe Awards 2025 and the victory of the Lakeside11 project in Bucharest in the Red Dot Award are recognition not only of the AIMM team, but of all Ukrainian architecture. This is proof that even in difficult times, we create art that shapes the face of modern Europe,” comments Anna Izquierdo, architect, public figure, co-founder of the AIMM architectural bureau.
