Terraces embody the idea of merging internal and external space
Most people associate verandas and terraces with a country house, leisure on a warm summer evening. But terraces are increasingly appearing in urban residential complexes. Individual, as part of the apartments, allow you to arrange a "personal portion of fresh air" to your own taste - set up a mini-garden, place a workplace or install your favorite exercise machine. Rooftop terraces hold the position of the most popular public spaces.

Moreover, sometimes the terraces become the core, the main idea of the residential complex. Perhaps the most famous example is "Terraces of Beirut", a complex built by Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron in 2012-2016. in the capital of Lebanon. The residential 119-meter tower consists of floor slabs of non-standard sizes, which give it "dancing" outlines. Five modular floors are repeated in different combinations to create a stepped structure. White slabs overhang the double-glazed walls by at least 60 cm, providing shade and forming terraces. "The idea of a green boulevard connecting the residential high-rise with the surrounding environment is embodied in the design and continues both inside and outside the building. The interior and exterior spaces merge with each other, so that the spacious terraces really become part of the living spaces," is how the architects described their project.

Six terraced floors of the Grand Park Hotel (Rovinj, Croatia) is a project of the local bureau 3LHD, implemented in 2017–2019.
The large-scale terraces of the Grand Park Hotel in Rovinj, Croatia also create a sense of merging architecture with the surrounding landscape. The interior spaces on each floor slab are pushed back, which allows you to create an extensive landscaped space that surrounds the rooms on each level and creates the impression that you are surrounded by natural greenery that goes beyond the horizon.
The local office 3LHD aimed to minimize the impact of the building on the landscape. For example, five pine trees that grew on this plot were included in the terrace of the first floor. As a result of such delicate work, at any point of the hotel, the guest gets the impression that he is in a park with a view of Rovinj and the sea.

Rescue hexagons HEXA
Achieving harmony with nature in projects of verandas and terraces is possible with the help of modern materials and technologies. The requirements for them are high — the materials must be resistant to climate tests: they can withstand heat and frost, high humidity and drought.
An example of a meticulously thought-out approach is the Fundermax HPL panel. HEXA panels — Max Compact Exterior — laminate made of kraft paper and thermoset resin, pressed under high pressure with additional highly effective protection against atmospheric effects and ultraviolet burning. HEXA (NH) panels are embossed in the form of convex hexagons on an acrylic-polyurethane base. It is these hexagons that resist sliding when the surface is wet. The HEXA panel has been tested for slippage (R), and according to the results of material studies, it has been assigned R10 out of 13 possible.

HEXA is almost ideal material for floors on balconies, verandas, terraces, patios, on staircases, transitions, as flooring near pools and fountains. This coating is one of the most popular in Europe. Ego is used for projects of various scales, up to the reconstruction of a tourist road and the construction of viewing platforms, as in Sierra de Santa Pola (Spain). According to the authors of this project, architects from RAS Arquitectos, HEXA is ideally suited for a unique landscape with high natural value and is able to withstand the intense flow of athletes and tourists without loss.

The project in Izmail — the Black Sea recreation center — is for lovers of sea and beach relaxation in Ukraine. Compact, but very cozy.
The territory of the base is small, but the owners have set themselves the task of making it as comfortable as possible for visitors and as convenient for service as possible. Therefore, we chose materials and solutions that can withstand winter downtime with storms, sharp temperature drops and high humidity. And not only will they last, but they will not lose their characteristics, they will not crumble, they will not crack, they will not change color, etc.
Special convex "honeycombs" that do not allow the feet to slide on the wet surface of the pool
Based on these criteria, Fundermax HPL panels were unconditionally and unanimously chosen by the customer, the architect and the main contractor. The panels were used both for facades and for decorating the swimming pool and beach area.
The pool is located next to the residential building, and for its design, Fundermax HPL panels of a special appearance are also used for its design - HEXA floor covering.
In fact, there was no HEXA alternative in this project. The coating had to be attached to the frame of the pool, any other material would have significantly weighed down the structure. Among the absolute advantages of HEXA are special convex "honeycombs" that prevent the feet from slipping when walking on a wet surface near the pool. According to this indicator, HEXA is much more comfortable than traditional ceramics. And the material itself protects the structure of the pool, because it is resistant to moisture and an aggressive salt environment.

HEXA was also chosen as a material for arranging the access to the beach. And it has shown itself excellently during active operation for several years - it is wear-resistant and absolutely not subject to burnout.
The Black Sea leisure center continues to develop, and its next stages are also implemented using HEXA and other Fundermax materials.

We have already implemented six projects using HEXA flooring. We will show the advantages of this material on the example of a terrace for a private house in the Lviv region.
First of all, it is necessary to note excellent external data. Fundermax offers a wide selection of decor — from a wide range of natural shades of wood to monochrome options. Such a line allows you to choose the HEXA floor covering for any interior and exterior solutions and tasks set by the architect.
The second plus is the very composition of the material, which gives maximum durability of operation. Capture the maximum amount of light, be ready for any weather challenges - these are the tasks that the authors of the project of a veranda with sliding glass walls and a ceiling with a small lantern for a private house in the Odessa region successfully coped with.
The floor and steps are covered with NEHA terrace board from Fundermax. For the company, this is the first project using NEHA. The material has a number of advantages — effective, resistant to burning, does not absorb moisture, easy to process, allows you to realize the most complex project. Among the features, compared to the common wood-polymer composite, it is more susceptible to damage. However, replacement of fragments is carried out easily, and since the material does not burn out at all, the "new" fragment will be imperceptible.

A wide range of materials from Fundermax made it possible to choose a decor for the ceiling in the same color as the floor covering. The difference is only in the texture - smooth exterior NT and special "honeycombs" of NEHA terrace board.
