"Italian Postwar Design." Lecture for architects in the Proforma Group showroom

/ Design /

On September 3, the fourth lecture of the course on the history of art and design was held in the Proforma Group showroom in Moscow. This time, Larisa Tsybina and Kostyantyn Kovshevatsky dedicated the evening to European art of the middle of the XNUMXth century. and Italian post-war design.

Again, the evening's speakers addressed a phenomenon with an exceptional reputation around the world. Whatever it is about - fashion, cars, interior or industrial design - the Italians have a special position here. But what is so unusual about Italian design? What exactly led to the fact that the country, which did not differ in anything special in this area before the Second World War, immediately took precedence after it and became a legislator of style?

It is not only about the desire of designers to provide Italians with the necessary items for a comfortable peaceful life, which correspond to the main ideas about aesthetics and functionality. Larisa Tsybina and Kostiantyn Kovshevatsky tried to reveal the connections between advanced design and artistic practices, which forged the concept of timeless Italian taste and style.
