Two dynamic stone volumes, separated by a gorge and water flowing between them, formed the basis of the composition of the complex. And all architectural, interior and design decisions are subordinated to this basic idea.
In ancient times, the river served as the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. Later, the British forced it on their ships in order to buy local silk - but they could not sell the goods in return, because the Chinese stubbornly did not buy anything from foreigners. And the British, insidious and treacherous, provoked two opium wars and forever changed the order of trade in the region. A lot of river water has flown since then, and today the British architectural office wins a large-scale competition for the design of an ultra-modern theater, thus breaking the established order of perception and image of the theater and the theatrical performance itself.

What should theater be like in the XNUMXst century? The ancient Greeks had a canon of theater space organization. The Italian Renaissance presented its theater concept, which lasted for more than three centuries. Theatrical experimenters of our time proved that the production can be realized literally anywhere - whether it is the front yard of the Papal Palace in the Vatican or the city square in Avignon.
In Chinese culture, a place for spectacles is designated by a special hieroglyph "si", which consists of elements representing a spear, a bowl and a tiger. Sacrifice in ancient times was accompanied by dances with a tiger mask and a demonstration of the skill of wielding a spear. Later, this custom was transformed into various stage performances. And the theater is designed to cause surprise and delight!

The new opera house in Guangzhou is a vivid example of parametric architecture. Some experts believe that it grew out of bionics, which was popular in the last century. Copying natural forms was his basis. But the lack of appropriate technologies in design and construction at that time did not give him the opportunity to develop. Complex curvilinear forms not only serve as a distinguishing feature of modern parametric digital architecture, they also carry signs of a new architectural paradigm, a new understanding of space, new features of combining the real and virtual worlds in one architectural object.
The main difference between parametric architecture and other architectural styles is the attempt to combine the dynamics of natural forms and the almost complete absence of linearity and symmetry that we are accustomed to in a complex and at the same time breathtaking spatial model.
Bright scenography amazes: as soon as we step onto the theater square, the show begins long before entering the theater itself. Expressive and expressive volumes change and argue with you, accompanying each step to the main entrance. The impeccable individuality of the decisions of the design team is proved by the incredibly expressive interiors of the halls, the main and rehearsal halls.
