Spiritual Cities, "Spiritual Cities" - under this name, the exhibition of Oksana Mas, one of the most famous Ukrainian artists in the world, opened yesterday in the Art Ukraine gallery.

The exhibition in Kyiv is a retrospective of Oksana's work, which includes works from different periods, from a fragment of a sketch to the large-scale "Altar of Nations", assembled from thousands of hand-painted eggs, to the most recent project, the name of which is the capital exhibition.

"Spiritual cities" is a series of works based on the artist's philosophical rethinking of the modern urban environment as a space of symbols and a symbol of space, and created based on the didactics of such urban theorists as Lewis Mumford with his "city - a scenic platform" and Kevin Lynch, who formulated The criterion of imageability is the "readability" of an urban canvas.

In October of this year, Oksana Mas' personal exhibition was held at the MAGA museum in Milan - Museo Arte Gallarate. The curators of the exhibition were gallerist and collector Krystyna Krasnyanskaya and Sandryna Bandera, president of MA*GA.

Oksana Mas is the first Ukrainian artist whose project will be presented as part of a personal exhibition at Sotheby's in Milan in February 2018.

Oksana represented Ukraine at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011. In 2012, she received the Independent Critics' Prize at the 65th Locarno Film Festival for her work in the video art genre "The Phenomenon of Epidermism". More than 80 personal exhibitions of Oksana Mas were held in London, Paris, Prague, Bratislava, Zurich, New York, Geneva, Istanbul and Kyiv.

A long interview with Oksana Mas is waiting for you in the pilot issue of the PRAGMATIKA publication, and a video version of the conversation with the artist — in our MediaHUB www.pragmatika.media already in January 2018.
