It started yesterday in Kyiv CANactions International Architecture Festival 2018. The rich program of the 1st day of the main architectural event in the capital, in addition to lectures and master classes, included an interactive walk - ArchiTour. The organizers of the festival have developed 2 routes - a river route and a walking route. Journalists Pragmatika Media walked through the last time with the excursionists.

The guides of the first ArchiTour were the head of the Berlin Agency for Architecture and Urban Planning, Benjamin Hossbach, who organized an open international competition for the creation of the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred project, and Matthias Rammig, an architect-engineer from Stuttgart and an expert in the field of thermal modeling.

The walk started from the site near the Ark of Friendship of Peoples, and the further route was laid in the direction of the pedestrian bridge leading to Trukhanov Island. First of all, the architects noted the number of green spaces located in the very heart of the capital. According to Benjamin Hossbach, the city has good potential to become even more "green". By this, the architect means an increase in the number of bicycle paths, pedestrian zones and the revitalization of existing recreational areas.

"It is very difficult to criticize a city with so many parks and squares," says Benjamin Hossbach.

Matthias Rammig spoke about how important it is to educate students and young architects in a conscious approach to the formation of a sustainable urban environment. His colleague confirmed his words: "Everything starts with the project. And an architect is a person who sees and sets the vector for the development of the city, its man-made environment and each individual building. Create something that doesn't exist and over time it will appear."
